Almay Coupons

almayAlmay is a cosmetics brand owned by Revlon, along with other brands including Revlon, Ultima II, ColorStay, Flex, New Complexion, Revlon Age Defying, and Charlie.

Since 1931, ALMAY® has helped women look and feel their best with good-for-you cosmetics in the most flattering shimmers and shades—all the while staying true to its heritage of using pure, hypoallergenic ingredients.

It all began in 1930, when cosmetics were heavy and thick, and made with strong pigments and powerful chemicals. These cosmetics were too harsh for the complexion of Fanny May Woititz. She bestowed her husband, Alfred, also a professional chemist, to start experimenting with her makeup, testing and trying to figure out which ingredients were irritants. With dermatologist Dr. Marion Sulzberger, they devised a formula for cosmetics that was pure and gentle enough for Fanny May to use every day.

Combining the names of the founders, Alfred and Fanny May, Almay was established in 1931 and began to manufacture their new, gentler cosmetics for women everywhere.

Since then, Almay has been the first hypoallergenic cosmetics brand, the first brand to make 100% fragrance-free products and to disclose all ingredients used, the first brand to perform safety testing for allergy and irritation, the first brand to formulate for contact lens wearers and, you guessed it, the first brand to create cosmetic regimens for specific skin types.

In fact, Almay is so stringent that fewer than 500 of the 10,000 new ingredients available for use in cosmetics meet Almay’s superior standards.

The Almay Brand was originally established in 1931 and was named after the founders, Alfred and Fanny May Woititz. The creation of this cosmetic brand began when Fanny May Woititz was in need for cosmetic products that did not irritate her sensitive skin. Her husband Alfred, who was a professional chemist, started experimenting with makeup to find ingredients that were more pure and gentle. With the help of dermatologist Dr. Marion Sulzberger, they developed the first cosmetic brand that uses hypoallergenic ingredients.

Almay was the first brand to introduce skincare safety by producing 100% fragrance-free products, by showing all the ingredients used on its product labels, and by testing for allergy, as well as irritation. It was also the first to create a cosmetic line for consumers with specific skin types and those who wear contact lenses. In 1987, Almay was acquired by Revlon and today, has expanded to a full line of skincare and makeup products.

Almay has products for skincare, face, lips and eyes. The natural ingredients used include Meadowsweet (Spirael ulmaria) for oily skin, Grape Seed (Vitis vinifera) for normal skin and Cucumber (Cucumis sativa) for dry skin. Anti-aging ingredient used in products is Story of Moringa (Moringa oleifera), also known as “The Miracle Tree”. Other natural ingredients in the products are Aloe (Aloe barbadensis), Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum), Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Soybean (Glycine max) and Rosehips (Rosa canina).

Elaine Irwin Mellencamp became the spokesperson for Almay in March 2004 [1] and continue to campaign for the company’s new innovations.
